Pay transparency has always been a global mission for us. But solving it globally has challenges. Attitudes around sharing compensation vary as much as pay structures themselves.
That mission has driven us to build one of the largest compensation databases in the world. But there's always been a gap, and anyone working in tech in Europe has felt it.
Today, we're closing that gap.
Levels.fyi has acquired TechPays, the leading compensation database for tech workers across Europe.
TechPays was built by Gergely Orosz and Zsombor Erdลdy-Nagy. If you work in tech, you probably know Gergely as the author of The Pragmatic Engineer, one of the most widely-read engineering newsletters in the world.
A few years ago, he published a blog post on the trimodal nature of tech pay in Amsterdam that resonated so deeply with European engineers that it sparked an entire movement around salary transparency across the continent. TechPays grew out of that moment: a carefully maintained database helping thousands of European tech workers understand salaries and total compensation in their field.
We've seen firsthand the impact Levels.fyi has had in the US, and Gergely and Zsombor have built something with the same spirit across Europe. We're honored to carry that forward.
In the coming months, you can expect Levels.fyi to reflect the way pay is actually discussed in Europe, including monthly comp, net figures, local currencies, and more.
But โglobalโ doesnโt stop at Europe. And as excited as we are about this move, we're just getting started.
