The Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) is the governing body of Polk County, responsible for adopting an annual budget and providing various services including fire protection, health and welfare programs, parks, and transportation systems. They also enforce zoning and building codes, regulate waste and sewage disposal, and provide and maintain county buildings. Each commissioner is elected by a countywide vote.
